About Turbocharger & Supercharger

Turbo & supercharger both are forced induction systems . They compress air flowing in engine. Compressed air means more air in cylinder . More air in cylinder means more fuel sucked In . Large amount of air & fuel make boost explosion in cylinder produces more power . Turbo/supercharger engine generate more power overall than without turbo/supercharger engine.

Turbocharger or supercharger engine suck 50 percent more air into cylinders. You would expect to get 50-percent more power But It's not perfectly efficient, though, so you might get a 30% to 40% improvement instead.

The main diffrence between Turbocharger & supercharger is power supply . Turbocharger runs on waste gases exhausted after combustion. After combustion engine leaves exhaust gases which turn spins the compressor. On other hand supercharger gets power from belt drive which is directly connected to engine . Belt drives the supercharger compressor & compressor start compressing air then deliver to engine.

Turbochargers are more efficent because it uses 'waste' energy as a power source. Supercharger are easy to install but more expensive

What is DTS-i and DTS-Si Technology ?

DTS-i & DTS-si Technology used in Bajaj Auto . First it is introduced in Pulser 150 & 180 in 2003.

DTS-i stands for Digital Twin Spark Plug Ignition. As its name indicate that it contain two spark plug & controlled by digital microprocessor

The Benefit of using two spark plug is better burning of the air fuel mixture. The result is ,Engine deliver better fuel efficiency & power.

DTS-Si stands for Digital Twin Spark-Swirl Induction . It also have two spark plugs. But the Difference between DTS-i & DTS-Si is fuel flowing technique . In this type of engine position of inlet & outlet ports are offset. It create turbulence of the air-fuel mixture inside the engine. The swirl flow make better combustion in cylinder. Better combustion means more efficent & powerful engine.

What is Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) ?

Today we are talking about How Anti-Lock Brakes Work . Now a days mostly cars have ABS system. ABS is a life saving technology which allows driver to heavy breaking with in-control steering.
By preventing the wheels from locking, it enables the driver to maintain steering control and to stop in the shortest possible distance under most conditions.

ABS system consist following parts -

1. wheel speed sensors
2. Brake calipers
3. hydraulic motor
4. pressure release valve
5. Control module

Working :-

When brakes are applied this pressurises a hydraulic system which causes the brake pads to close against the discs which causes the car to slow down. If the ABS system detects that one wheel is slowing down more rapidly than the rest (a symptom of wheel-lock) it automatically reduces the brake pressure on this wheel by opening a pressure release valve in the hydraulic system. It also has the ability to build the pressure back up via the hydraulic motor.
